  • The Role of Parents

We recognise the important role that parents play in their child’s development and we work in partnership to ensure that your child’s school life is happy and that they thrive academically.

Curriculum evenings, parents’ evenings and drop-in sessions are held throughout the academic year to ensure that parents are kept up-to-date and involved with their child’s learning experience at St Luke's C.E. Primary School. There are various opportunities to see your child perform, whether in a school assembly, production, or music concert, and parents are invited to attend all the sports fixtures we arrange.

We encourage parents to tell us about their children’s experiences outside of school. There is an opportunity at the end of the day to chat to staff at pick-up and our Open Door Policy encourages interaction and dialogue, an important part of our collaborative approach. We acknowledge the significance of working with families to ensure that each child is best supported and encouraged to fulfil their potential.

    Parent Handbook

To support families further, we have produced a Parent Handbook which brings together key information about school routines, expectations, and procedures in one accessible document. The handbook is available below.

    Parent Council

We also facilitate a Parent Council at the school, which is a forum for sharing ideas and events and offering constructive feedback to the school. The Council is an invited group of parents who meet once a term to discuss these ideas. It has an advisory and consultative role, considering issues raised by parents, governors, or staff. The three most recent meeting minutes are published below.

    Parent WhatsApp Groups

We greatly value open and respectful communication between home and school and recognise that digital platforms are now a key part of how parent communities connect. While these spaces can be helpful for sharing information, we encourage all communication to remain positive, constructive, and in line with our shared values as a school community.

To support this, we ask that any parent-led communication channels are used thoughtfully and that concerns about school matters are always directed to the school in the first instance, where they can be addressed appropriately and effectively.

Please see the WhatsApp Code of Conduct below for further guidance on expectations for appropriate use of parent WhatsApp groups.
