Firstly, we hope everyone is happy and healthy whilst self isolating at the moment. We are missing you all and look forward to Tuesday 13th to reunite.
We are continuing with the Megabeasts topic and have moved on from dinosaurs to woolly mammoths! For English, ‘writing to entertain’, the children have reworked a poem about a mammoth by adding their own adjectives to describe different animals, they then performed it as a song to the familiar tune of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. For ‘writing to inform’ they went on to research some woolly mammoth facts.
The role play area has been very busy as the children have continued to be industrious at patching up many unwell creatures: a recent injury was the snake who tied itself in knots! One of the girls said that she wants to be a vet and travel the world helping donkeys and other animals that have been treated unfairly by people; a worthwhile job.
In phonics, the children have been recapping digraphs and trigraphs and consolidating their learning through fun phonic games! The focus in maths has been ‘sharing’, using 'equal', 'same' and 'each'. Sadly they used paper cookies not real ones to investigate and share! See you soon :-)
