A non-stop hive of activity are appropriate words to describe the Year 6 classroom over the past couple of weeks, with final alterations and flourishes being made to the wonderful array of costumes and props, in readiness for the eagerly anticipated production of “Welcome to Wonderland”. Every single member of the class has risen to the occasion - be it singing, dancing or acting. The children have relished their moment in the spotlight, and quite rightly so!
The move to secondary school (and the approaching finale to their time at St. Luke’s) is beginning to feel ever more real as of late, especially as the majority of the class have taken part in transition sessions at their new schools. The children have returned to school enthused by all the exciting opportunities awaiting them in September.
With farewells in mind, thoughts turn to the forthcoming leavers assembly which will take place on the last day of term. The children will be sharing their own anecdotes and words of gratitude, looking back over the years and choosing their fondest memories. It will certainly be a fitting celebration of their St. Luke’s journey, if not a little emotional!
