Friday 3rd May 2024
In the last Nursery blog post we proudly announced the safe arrival of two gorgeous ducklings however at 3.15pm on that same Friday, we were extremely fortunate to be able to watch our third and final duckling hatch from its egg. The children watched on in awe and amazement as a very tired and wet duckling pipped its way out of the egg and safely hatched. The whole process was very exciting and the children were very respectful as they quietly observed the new life beginning. We thanked God for our new baby duckling. Last week our ducklings continued to grow big and strong, we created our own non-fiction texts based on the life cycle of a duckling as well as used blocks to measure and monitor the growth of the ducklings. Every child was invited to stroke and hold the ducklings, which they did very carefully before washing their hands with soap and water. The children described the ducklings as cute, fluffy and soft. Later on in the week the ducklings explored water for the first time and without any difficulty splashed and dived in the water which made us all giggle out loud. On Thursday we said a sad goodbye as the ducklings left us for a life back at the farm. We have had an amazing learning experience watching the ducklings change and grow over the fortnight.
This week we have enjoyed another learning experience as we visited the Kingston Mosque to find out more about the Islamic faith. Again the children were very respectful with their listening and questions and remembered the importance of taking their shoes off before entering the mosque. Once we returned to Nursery, we were able to compare some similarities and differences between the Christian and Islamic faiths.
