Below is our most recent blog from Year 4.  This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).  These will be updated every other Friday.

Friday 26th April 2024

It was great to welcome the children back to school last week. They have already become fully immersed in our new topic, the ancient Egyptians!

In English, we are using the non fiction book, ‘The Story of King Tutankhamun’ as a focus. The children researched for and wrote super non chronological reports about ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. Additionally, the children have applied causal conjunctions to explain which theory of how Tutankhamun died. Was he murdered? Was it an accident? Or was it due to illness?

In history this week, the children recognised and ordered key events during the Egyptian period and created a timeline to show what they had learned.

Our PE topic this half of term is all about Egyptian dancing! So far, the children have experimented with different types of movement. For example, last week they considered how gods and goddesses would act and this week they explored how the building of a pyramid could be expressed through actions.

Last week, the children began learning the seven characteristics of a living thing in science. This week the children recapped how we can group animals and used classification tables to do so.

We are looking forward to our ancient Egyptian workshop next Wednesday!
