We have had a busy couple of weeks in Year 4.
Science lessons have been particularly exciting! The children discovered which components are needed to make a simple circuit. They enjoyed testing what happens to the brightness of a light bulb when more than one cell is added. This week, the children took part in an experiment to discover what the difference between a conductor and insulator is by testing items such a paper clip, paper and a ruler.
In gymnastics, the children have been practising head stands and have recently moved on to backwards roles. I have been impressed with the resilience of those children who find this tricky!
We have finished the story of Beowulf. This story allowed us to experiment with including different writing techniques which the children demonstrated whilst writing diary entries from Beowulf’s point of view.
In music, the children have started learning the clarinet with Kingston Music Service. They are getting to grips with producing a sound using a reed.
We are still working our way through our place value maths topic. Recently, we have been comparing and ordering 4-digit numbers as well as counting in 25s. Please keep supporting your children in learning their times tables!
