Year 6 have come back from their break feeling refreshed and ready to take on the challenges of the next half term. In English, the children have been exploring adaptation and evolution through poetry, using the speckled and black moths as stimulus. They have used a range of literary and grammatical devices to bring their poems to life and are looking forward to selecting their own animal to write a similar poem about.
In their history lessons, Year 6 have continued to explore the lives of poor Victorian children. They watched short video clips about the different jobs they had: coal mine worker, bird scarer and factory worker to name a few. They compared each job and discussed which one they would rather/rather not have, which proved rather difficult!
This week the children visited Orleans House Art Gallery to take part in a printing workshop. They explored the gallery and took sketches inside and then used these sketches to create a printing card, using a range of different materials with various textures. They used ink to colour their designs and then pressed them onto some paper. The finished pieces looked amazing and they were very proud of their work.
