Spring term has been jammed packed! We ended the first half of the term with our incredible production of ‘The Litter Muncher’. The children performed incredibly and made us all so proud.
In maths this term, we have focused on 4 main areas: money, multiplication and division, length and height and volume, capacity and temperature. In our money unit, we focused on learning all the different coins and notes we have in the UK. We learnt that 100p is the same as £1, or we could exchange 2 50p coins for a £1. In multiplication, we have focused heavily on the link between multiplication and division for the 2-, 5- and 10-times tables. We discovered if we know our multiplication tables, we can easily answer division questions by asking ourselves, “how many of the smaller number goes into the bigger number?”. We will continue to be practising on Times Table Rockstars weekly to secure this knowledge.
In English, we finished our diary entry writing and focused on literary devices such as: onomatopoeia, time words (fronted adverbials), using our senses and exciting verbs. We then moved onto our new story called ‘Eric’ by Shaun Tan. Through this tiny book, we learnt about how we connect to someone even if our cultures are different, write formal and informal letters and write our own version of the story.
Finally, we ended the term with a brilliant trip to The Wetland Centre to round off our Science topic of living things and their habitats. We explored different habitats and saw how animals have adapted to suit their environment.
