The children in Year 4 have had an action-packed term with the majority of their learning focussing on the wonders of the rainforests. In geography, the children have ‘explored’ the rainforest from the emergent layer and right down to the dark and humid forest floor. In January, we were lucky enough to visit Kew Gardens where we were treated to a fantastic Rainforest Workshop. The children were told about the medicinal properties of some of the plants found in the rainforest and even got to taste some food. More recently, ZooLab paid a visit to the classroom with a range of interesting animals for us to hold such as a corn snake, giant snail and giant millipede. The children shared their acquired knowledge with the rest of the school through their fantastic class assembly.
Our science topic began with an informative visit from Dr Martina. As a dentist, Dr Martina shared her knowledge and the children discussed how to look after their teeth.
Earlier in the term, we ventured to the Stanley Picker Gallery to explore their exhibition on ‘home’ and came away with some interesting collages and ‘dream home’ designs.
