Why Choose St Luke’s?

A small school with big ambitions for every child.

At St Luke’s, we believe that children thrive when they feel known, valued, included and inspired. We are a welcoming Church of England primary school where high expectations sit alongside genuine care, and where every child is encouraged to discover what they can achieve.

Every child is known

As a one-form entry school, we are small enough to know every child as an individual. Our staff know our pupils well — their strengths, their interests, their personalities and the things that sometimes make learning more difficult. This means children receive the support, encouragement and challenge they need to flourish.

Excellent teaching and high expectations

We have high expectations by all, for all, and we are ambitious for every child. Our teachers are passionate about teaching and continually develop their practice so that children build secure knowledge, become confident learners and achieve highly.

Our pupils leave St Luke’s well prepared for secondary school, with strong academic foundations and the confidence to take on new challenges.

A school where everyone belongs

Our Christian values are at the heart of school life. We want every child to feel that they belong and that they matter. We are proud of our inclusive community, where children are encouraged to care for one another, celebrate difference and develop the confidence to be themselves.

Learning that goes beyond the classroom

We want children to leave St Luke’s with more than a set of academic results. Our curriculum is enriched by opportunities to perform, create, compete, explore and discover.

From sport and music to trips, visitors, clubs, competitions and special events, we give children opportunities to develop interests, discover talents and create memories that stay with them.

A rich curriculum and a love of learning

We want our children to be curious about the world around them. Our curriculum builds knowledge and vocabulary carefully while giving children opportunities to think deeply, ask questions and make connections.

We want children to leave us not simply knowing more, but wanting to know more.

A strong sense of community

St Luke’s is more than a school — it is a community. Our close links with St Luke’s Church, our supportive governors and our active parent community all contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes our school special.

We work closely with families because we know that children achieve their best when school and home work together.

Opportunities for every child

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover something they are good at and something they love. Our enrichment programme gives children opportunities to develop their interests, try something new and build confidence beyond the classroom.

Whether it is sport, music, the arts, leadership, clubs or activities beyond the school day, there is something for everyone at St Luke’s.

A great place to grow

Perhaps most importantly, we want our children to be happy, confident and ready for whatever comes next.

From their first days in Reception to their final year in Year 6, we want every child to look back on their time at St Luke’s with a sense of pride and belonging — knowing that they were cared for, challenged, encouraged and believed in.
