At St Luke’s C.E. Primary School, caring for our planet is an important part of our school vision of having “High expectations, by all, for all, reflecting the example of Jesus.” Our approach to climate action is grounded in our Christian values, our commitment to sustainability, and the voices of our pupils, who care deeply about the world they are growing up in.
We aim to develop pupils’ understanding of environmental responsibility through our curriculum, everyday routines, and wider school life. Children are encouraged to reflect on the impact of their choices and to take practical steps to care for creation, both in school and at home. Through meaningful learning experiences, we help pupils build knowledge, skills, and attitudes that support them to become responsible global citizens.
Our Climate Action Plan sets out our priorities across key areas including energy use, waste, transport, water, biodiversity, and curriculum development. We are working to ensure that sustainability is embedded across the school so that pupils develop a strong understanding of environmental stewardship and their role in protecting the world around them.
This is an ongoing commitment and an important part of our school journey. Working together with staff, governors, families, and the wider community, we are continuing to build a culture of sustainability that helps our pupils thrive now and in the future.
