Reverend Charlton returned to St Luke’s this week for her final worship of the academic year, and as always, it was a truly thought-provoking session.
She shared the inspiring story of Callum Wilson, a football player for her beloved Newcastle United, and how his challenging childhood shaped his character. Callum often struggled, sometimes crying himself to sleep, but this adversity fuelled his determination to succeed. Despite facing numerous hardships, he never allowed himself to be consumed by negativity. Instead, he chose kindness, understanding the pain of hardship and choosing to rise above it. This resilience and strength in the face of difficulty offered us all a valuable lesson, reminding us that challenges can make us stronger when we approach them with a positive attitude and compassion.
