This week saw the start of our Summer Term sporting endeavours with our semi-final District Cup netball match at Our Lady Immaculate (OLI).
The match was four quarters of 7 minutes with the players rotating according to Bee Netball rules after each quarter.
We started the game strongly scoring the first 3 goals quickly and efficiently. OLI came back to score 1 but we were able to stay 3 ahead after the first quarter by scoring another. We continued in the same way in the second quarter scoring 4 more goals going into half time 8-1 ahead. We continued to play with same intensity in the third quarter scoring 2 more goals with one in reply from OLI so we went into the last quarter winning 10 -2. The fourth quarter was closer with the final score in that one 2-2 meaning we took a very convincing win at 12-4.
The manner in which the squad played throughout the whole game was excellent! The precision of the passing and shooting was wonderful to watch and the team quickly understood how OLI were playing and were able to intercept and move the ball quickly to our advantage. It was excellent to see such fluid and precise netball being played by St Luke's.
This win sees us into the District Cup Netball Final for the first time - a fantastic achievement. Well done to those who played and a thank you to our wonderful Mrs Corlett for refereeing the game. Bring on the final!
