Friday 8 March
This week, Reception children have celebrated World Book Day by exploring a book a day by their favourite author, Julia Donaldson. The week started with ‘Room on the Broom’ and the children were challenged to create their very own potion and magic wand. Reception rose to the challenge and created all sorts of disgusting potions, which included ingredients such as eyeballs and frog legs. On Tuesday, ‘Superworm’ made an appearance and the children were challenged to create their own superhero and describe their super power. Towards the end of the week, Reception class needed to follow the instructions to create some yummy Gruffalo crumble! They then tasted their crumble and wrote the recipe up. The children also engaged in some fun challenges linked with the books ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and ‘Stickman’.
Reception have also been lucky enough to visit the nursery ducklings where they watched them have their first swim and even got to have a little hold. The children remembered they had to be really quiet and gentle so as not to scare the birds. Reception were so good with the ducklings that a few of them even fell asleep on them!
