Friday 11 January
The colder temperatures have certainly helped Year 1 as the children have returned to school after the holidays full of enthusiasm for our new topic exploring The Arctic and Antarctic landscapes. Through role-play, the children have prepared for an Antarctic adventure with woolly hats, scarves and gloves. Listening to the sounds of tundra winds, crunching snow and looking at images of the frozen landscapes, was a stimulus for building vocabulary to write descriptions.
To continue on the journey through the North and South Poles, a virtual reality Google Expedition to The Arctic and Antarctica will take place in Computing lessons.
In science, the children have been on a hunt for different materials and classified objects within the school environment.
The children have enjoyed coordination activities and skipping in Outdoor P.E. lessons. Please ensure that they have tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts as well as P.E. shoes/trainers as part of their complete P.E. kit.
