Friday 8 March
It has been an exciting two weeks for Year 4. The children performed an excellent assembly based on what they have been learning this term. The class shared facts about the Amazon rainforest and deforestation through a re-enactment of the story ‘The Great Kapok Tree’. Year 4 informed the audience about the effects of plastic pollution, and they sang ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ but changed some of the lyrics to fit in with the ‘recycling’ theme. The children also performed the street dance they have been learning and displayed some of their own group choreography.
The class came into school in the most fantastic and creative costumes for World Book Day on Thursday. Activities for the day included a book quiz and reading with Year 2 pupils.
Year 4 have begun producing some writing for their ‘Plastic Pollution Portfolios’, and have so far written some motivating speeches about plastic pollution and its effects along with some beautifully written free-verse poems about Smokey Island Rubbish Dump. The children are looking forward to their trip to London Zoo soon to learn about the effects that plastics are having on our oceans.
