Friday 14 September

The new academic year has kicked off with a bang and the children of Year 4 are settling in brilliantly to their new class. They have begun their new science topic of sound, exploring how sounds are made and how they travel to our ears. The class discovered that sounds are made from vibrations which travel through a source. The children made string telephones using paper cups and pieces of string and found that they could hear their partner as long as the string was taut!

The children have started developing their hockey skills in outdoor PE and circuit training in indoor PE. Every week the children must complete different circuit exercise for 30 seconds and try to improve on their previous score, for example, ‘number of skips’ or ‘number of throws’.

In English, the children are reading their first class text, ‘James and the Giant Peach’ by Roald Dahl, and have written some engaging and descriptive diary entries as James walking into the peach, whilst building up their grammar knowledge.
