Friday 11 January

Year 5 have returned back from the holidays full of energy and raring to go, however, the recurring theme of this week has had a slightly different emphasis, namely: relaxation. As you will have seen in our Parentmails, we have begun our work on daily relaxation exercises aiming to promote wellbeing and mindfulness. Indoor PE this term brings us relaxation as the children are participating in yoga sessions.

Year 5 have also experienced the dreamy, relaxing world of Marc Chagall in their art lesson this week, as part of a longer focus on this great artist.

It hasn’t all been about relaxation though, as we have begun our very adventurous topic looking at Antarctica. We will be using the book ‘Shackleton’s Journey’ as part of our English lessons throughout this topic. We began by drawing what we thought Antarctica looks like on a map with some interesting results! The photograph shows children looking at our world map on our return from the task!
