Friday 17 May
It has been a busy few weeks for the children in Year 5. On Wednesday, the children enjoyed another fantastic workshop from our friends at the Orange Tree Theatre. The children spent the session learning about William Shakespeare's ‘The Tempest’ whilst practising dramatic techniques, and taking part in activities in the hall. Our visit to the theatre is a little way off but we are already eagerly anticipating a fantastic day there in July.
The other recent major event was Friday’s trip to Hampton Court Palace to learn about its Tudor history. The main purpose of the visit was for the children to take part in an ‘Exploring the Royal Kitchens’ workshop. However, the children also had the chance to visit the other Tudor treasures of the Palace including the Great Hall, the young Henry exhibition and the royal tennis court. The visit was highly educational, not only because it gave the children a real insight into life during the Tudor period, but also because it is one of the settings of their class reading book this term ‘Treason’.
