Over the past few weeks, Reception have shown an interest in the author Michael Rosen and the literature he has produced. His poem ‘Chocolate Cake’ has been a firm favourite but the children have also really enjoyed exploring the story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’.

This week the children have been on their own bear hunts which has also included turning out Wendy house into a bear cave and creating their own hunts inspired by this book and the story ‘We’re going on a Lion Hunt’.

In maths, Reception have used the story to explore mathematics language such as over, under, through, beside and on top.

In phonics the children have explored the sounds SATPIN in depth and have also been practising forming the letters.
