With the obvious change in the weather now that autumn has arrived, the children in Year 1 have noticed and recorded some of the seasonal differences.
In science, they have completed their first weather report noting the temperature, wind direction and chance of rainfall. They have not only felt the lower temperatures and higher wind, but have observed that their behaviours have altered too. Warmer layers and more hot chocolate!
Our maths Teach-In this week provided a wonderful opportunity for Year 1 to show their parents how they learn and enjoy maths. The children used a wide variety of maths resources to demonstrate the breadth of their learning. The workshop ended with everyone cheering ‘We love maths!’
Year 1 have continued to investigate medieval castles and were surprised by the delivery of some beautiful costumes for the role play area from one of our parents! Having created their own clay bowl, the children got a sense of how basic eating utensils were in that era, including no knives or forks!
For Latin Enrichment Day, learning to count to ten was a really fun way of embarking on the Latin theme. Toby presented, dressed as a formidable Julius Caesar, an enlightening account of life in Ancient Rome. Euge!
