Fortunately, we had dry weather for the Year 2 trip to the Wetlands Centre. The children explored a range of wetland habitats which represented different parts of the world, such as Australia and Asia. They spotted otters, blue billed ducks and herons, along with many wetland birds which could be seen from one of the hides.

Part of our visit included a microhabitat investigation where the children looked for invertebrates in a woodland area. With their sharp eyes, the children were delighted to find a variety of different invertebrates including millipedes, centipedes, ear wigs, slugs and earthworms.

Our visit ended with a trip to the adventure playground where both Willow and Oak classes explored tunnels and whizzed along the zip wire.

Overall, the children had a great day and it has enriched their learning as they have been able to write about their experiences.
