Year six have been getting into the groove recently - developing key rock and roll motifs such as the “Grapevine” and “Boogie back” as part of their dance sessions. They’ve embraced the energy and rhythm of the genre and will soon be adding partner spins and turns. Strictly Come Dancing, eat your heart out!
As part of their continued exploration into light and how we see things, the children were set the challenge of making a working periscope using mirrors. Thought had to be given to the angle of reflection, knowing how mirrors can be used to change the direction of a beam of light, before they could construct their designs and test outcomes.
Within English, the class have analysed a variety of historical battle speeches, comparing persuasive techniques, with the intention of writing their own 1948 election campaign speech next week.
Despite it being only late-November, the festive feeling has crept in to class and the children have been using a range of sewing and needlework techniques to produce work for the fabulous Christmas hoops. These will soon be installed in the school hall. Without a doubt, they are to be commended for their patience and perseverance.
