The Year 1 children have returned to school full of enthusiasm and a strong desire to start their Year 1 lessons. Along with the rest of the school they are enjoying attending worship in the hall. They have been sitting beautifully on the benches between the Year 6 children and impressed us with their listening skills and singing.
In English, Year 1 have been reading Traction Man and this week thought of descriptive words for their own superheroes. The children are practising thinking and saying what they are going to write before putting pencil to paper.
Thank you for all the baby photographs that were sent or emailed to the school for our science lessons. The children really enjoyed playing a guessing game looking at the photos and trying to spot their friends. They found checking the colour and shape of the eyes really helped them to recognise their friends when they were babies.
In art lessons, the children have transformed recent photos of themselves into portraits of knights and princesses. All the children selected resources to create armour or a headdress and used oil pastels to change the colour of their hair or add other features. The transformations are amazing and will prepare them well for the excitement of the castles workshop next week.
