A non-stop hive of activity are appropriate words to describe the Year 6 classrooms over the past couple of weeks, with final alterations and flourishes being made to the wonderful array of costumes and props, in readiness for the eagerly anticipated production of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Every single member of the cohort has risen to the occasion - be it singing, dancing or acting. The children have relished their moment in the spotlight, and quite rightly so!
The performance bug will be creeping into work within science over the next few weeks, whereby the children will be challenged to prepare a short TV programme about what we need to do to take care of our bodies and keep them as healthy as possible. These will be filmed by the children themselves and then shared with other year groups for evaluation.
The move to secondary school (and the approaching finale to their time at St. Luke’s) is beginning to feel ever more real as of late, especially as the majority of the year group are beginning to take part in transition sessions at their new schools. We hope that the children return to school enthused by all the exciting opportunities awaiting them in September.
