The children have settled well back into Nursery this summer term. We have enjoyed lots of time in our outdoor learning environment in the glorious sunshine and have observed busy insects in our wildlife garden and have noticed some seasonal changes such as the pink blossom on the trees and the children have become responsible for watering the beautiful daffodils, tulips and hyacinths that are beginning to bloom.
We have discussed why it is important to water the plants and flowers to help them grow and how the flowers produce pollen. This led to a discussion about the wonderful work of bees and the children were amazed by the KS1 bee production and loved spotting older siblings and friends! This has inspired the children to create their own productions in Nursery. We have made incredible musical instruments out of boxes and tubs and the children built their own stage and put together a performance for their friends. We have also tried some flamenco dancing this week and the children demonstrated amazing rhythm and beat!
We are very fortunate and excited to have caterpillars sharing our classroom and are looking forward to observing the changes over the following weeks. The caterpillars have generated many interesting discussions such as, “the caterpillars will stay in their cocoon for two weeks and then push their way out into a butterfly and go and find a butterfly friend”. We will be sure to keep you updated on the caterpillar’s progress!
