Autumn Term Parent Meeting Presentation

Friday 25th September 2020

Thank you for joining the Reception Zoom Meeting on Monday, it was lovely to see such high attendance. The children in Reception continue to settle and grow in confidence as routines become more familiar and friendships more solid. We are very proud of how well they have adapted to their new school life. They now have their House/Team colours and therefore they can start to gain many Team Points as reward for brilliant work and a positive attitude to learning etc.

They are excited to go home this week with their new reading wallet to read at home with you.

In maths this week, learning to play the Build a Beetle game has brought about some good mathematical language and turn taking and sharing too.

By creating their own version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in English, the children used some of their own ‘wow’ words, adjectives to replace the original. They became rather hungry themselves as they described the food the caterpillar munched through!

To enhance our reading area, the children created some beautiful butterflies to hang. As they discussed how to decorate them, they spoke about pattern and symmetry carefully choosing how it should look on each wing. Look out for signs of Autumn.
