Welcome to Year 4
Below is our most recent blog from Year 4. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc). These will be updated every other Friday.
Friday 25th September 2020
This week the children took part in an Anglo-Saxon themed architecture workshop, they worked tirelessly to create their very own roundhouse from bamboo and elastic bands. They really enjoyed working together whilst learning more about Anglo-Saxon architecture. In class the children had the opportunity to further this interest in Anglo-Saxon buildings as they began to craft their own using a range of resources including; planks, willow sticks, straws, string and lollipop sticks. They were incredibly behaved following the correct safety instructions when using a saw and a vice.
In English, Year 4 have continued reading the story of Beowulf in preparation for the theatrical performance of the epic poem on Friday 2nd October. Their homework task this week will focus on children constructing their outfits ready for Friday. The Year 4 team look forward to seeing the different designs. If you have any queries regarding the day please do not hesitate to ask.
In mathematics we have continued to look closely at place value and consolidated our knowledge of comparing numbers.
It has been another great week and we are looking forward to the next.
