Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
The second half term has started with great enthusiasm in Year 3. The children have come back from their break full of energy and ready to learn.
In their English lessons, the children have used the discovery of a pebble in the school garden to compose a free verse poem including descriptive language, similes and questioning. The journey of the life of their pebble will be explored and the children’s writing will be guided by the focus text ‘The Pebble in my Pocket: A History of our Earth.’
In Art the children have developed their painting techniques through exploring colour mixing to create different shades of primary, secondary and tertiary colours. Using their colour wheels, a background was painted for a Stonehenge silhouette. There was great creativity demonstrated through the variety of scenes across the children’s work.
At the beginning of the week the children participated in a lively interactive anti-bullying workshop including role-play scenarios and learning a rap song about ‘The Power of Good’. In science the children researched the significant discoveries of the fossil-hunter Mary Anning and wrote a fact file about her. The children continue to develop their movement, balance and coordination through gymnastics sessions in P.E.
