Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
National Storytelling week has brought a buzz of enthusiasm for books in Year 3. The children have enjoyed lots of additional book talk with each child sharing a favourite book to present to the class. With the freedom to choose a spot to sit comfortably and enjoy some time with a book, many of the children chose some unusual places to read which included under a table.
A highlight of the week was the Roman Day which allowed the children to explore the dramatic changes that took place in Britain during this significant historical time period. The workshop included a variety of Roman games involving using Roman numerals and strategy interspersed with interactive discussions about the impact of the Roman invasion of Britain. The children enjoyed seeing the array of Roman and Celtic weapons and armour as well as having the opportunity to see Roman artefacts for a hands-on experience of history. It was wonderful to see the children’s creativity shine through in the costumes that they put together to get into character as ancient Roman citizens.
The children have been working hard to prepare for their class assembly by practising songs and performing their lines with expression and actions.
