Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
The first half of the autumn term has come to an end and what a half term it has been. The children have particularly enjoyed their learning in English where they have been reading Cressida Cowell’s ‘How To Be A Viking’, a story that follows a scared little Viking, Hiccup, on his journey to sea to face his fears. They retold the story in a range of different ways: orally, through visual text maps and summarising the main events.
In science, they wrapped up their learning about electricity by researching the inventions of Thomas Edison, particularly the light bulb. Using their research, they created double spread fact files about his early life and impact on the modern world.
The children have been learning about the messages behind different bible stories in their RE lessons this term and this week they listened to the story of God’s promises to Abraham. Then they reflected on the four different promises, ranking them in order of importance and giving reasons for their rankings.
Year 4 really enjoyed writing and performing their haiku poems for our Harvest Festival and it was a lovely way to finish off a fantastic half term!
