Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
To support their knowledge of this half term’s geography topic on climate zones and biomes, considering the answer to our BIG question of ‘What impact do our choices have on the natural world?’, Year 6 took part in a workshop led by a facilitator from the David Sheppard Wildlife Foundation – a conservation charity operating across Africa and Asia to end wildlife crime and protect endangered species in their natural habitat. After thinking hard about biodiversity, climate change, human wildlife conflict and habitat loss, the children came up with their own compelling conservation message and used it to create a shopping bag using fabric pens.
English lessons have taken on a non-fiction vibe recently, with children analysing and comparing a range of nature documentaries in preparation for their own writing. They have noted the inclusion of both formal and technical language, along with particular sentence types such as ‘FACT reminders’ and ‘Tell: show 3;’, and are looking forward to becoming budding Attenboroughs, with their own documentaries being shared as part of their class assembly in a couple of weeks’ time.
