In English, we have been looking at Varjak Paw and wrote a prediction about what it might be about, ensuring we explained why we thought that. Over the past few days we have been working on writing a recount, in role as Varjak Paw telling the event of when two unknown cats arrive in his home. For their introduction, the children answered the following questions who were the cats, why were they here and what did they want? On World Book Day, we thought of a book character, moved around in the space as them using our characterisation skills and then created a battle between the different characters. It was enjoyable seeing characters from different universes collide.
In maths, we have been looking at finding equivalent fractions and then completed an end of unit assessment. We have since moved onto capacity and volume. The children have enjoyed creating their own word problem, with their partner then solving them. This highlighted the importance of identifying key information in a word problem and filtering out unnecessary information.
A highlight of the past few weeks was our Roman workshop. We were lucky enough to handle real Roman artefacts. We marched and created different formations in our recreation of a battle against the Celts.
