What an exciting and busy week it has been for Year 4! The resilience they’ve shown in maths is commendable, especially as they’ve been learning how to convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions.
The children have been completely engrossed in their learning about the Amazon Rainforest and the threats it continues to face. Their finished persuasive articles warning others about the effects of deforestation were superb, including rhetorical questions and emotive language to deliver their message effectively.
Year 4 did themselves very proud in their class assembly where they got to showcase a snippet of their learning so far in the spring term. They particularly enjoyed showing off their rainforest dioramas that they made in class last week. After using various shades of green to paint their shoeboxes, the children used a range of materials to create their rainforest scenes, complete with animals in each layer.
After the excitement of their class assembly, Year 4 headed off to the Science Museum where they got to watch and participate in a workshop all about digestion: It Takes Guts. It was a spectacular show and really brought the process of what happens to our food to life for the children.
