Creativity has been high on the agenda as of late, with Year 6 creating their own artwork depicting The River Thames. They have used artistic techniques such as quick visible brush strokes, emphasising light and colour; and abandoning traditional perspectives to add an impressionist style to their Monet-inspired water-colour paintings. These wonderful canvas paintings will be displayed as part of the Open Afternoon, so come and see the talent for yourself!
Last week’s Sports Morning saw a great amount of sportsmanship on show, with the children reflecting many of the school values and demonstrating fabulous agility and perseverance with their javelin, standing long jump and high jump activities.
The move to secondary school (and the approaching finale to their time at St. Luke’s) is beginning to feel ever more real as of late, with a visit from a Head of Year 7 from one of the local schools taking place this week. This allowed the children to reflect on aspects of organisation, such as getting their bags packed with the correct resources and prioritising homework expectations. Next week, many children will be taking part in transition sessions at their new schools, where they will surely return to school enthused by all the exciting opportunities awaiting them in September.
