Year 4 26/27

Below is our most recent blog.  This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).

Class update from Friday 9th October 2026:

Year 4 have been continuing to work hard and have especially enjoyed their writing around ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’ in English lessons. Using persuasive devices such as exaggeration, commands and rhetorical questions, they wrote persuasive letters to the author, Joe Todd Stanton, explaining why they would be the perfect choice for his next book’s hero/heroine.

In maths, the children have shown impressive ability when using column addition to add numbers with two exchanges. They have been strengthening their reasoning skills when explaining why an answer is wrong and correcting the calculations.

In history lessons, Year 4 travelled all the way back to the fascinating Viking era! They discovered important events and ordered them on a timeline, using their place value knowledge to help them place the dates chronologically.

It has been great to see the children participate so enthusiastically in ukulele lessons. Despite only having done a few lessons, their confidence is already evident and they are excited to keep practising their skills.

It has been great to see the children use their learning about electricity in science to start planning and designing their own torches in design and technology. They confidently discussed the materials they would need and why some should be conductors and some insulators.
