Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
This week in Reception, we have been diving into the wonderful world of On Sudden Hill by Linda Sarah and Benji Davies. The story has inspired us to think creatively and use our imaginations! We focused on listening for initial sounds in words. Together, we practised hearing and saying the first sounds in words like box, boy, and build. The children were fantastic at spotting these sounds and even tried writing the cvc words independently.
Following the story, we designed and decorated our own amazing box forts! Some children imagined being pirates sailing the seas, while others were princesses in magical castles. It was lovely to see such imaginative play and storytelling develop through our creations.
In maths, we’ve been learning about one more and one less, using objects, number lines, and songs to help us understand. We’ve also been busy spotting and making repeating patterns using colours, shapes, and even our own movements!
Last week we had Fergus from Year 4 visit us to show his wonderful poem for poetry day. He sung the poem by heart and it was such a pleasure for the children to see him perform with such enthusiasm. Such an inspiration for us little ones.
