Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
Our English lessons have centred around the book ‘Lots-the diversity of life on Earth’ by Nicola Davies. The children recently produced two fantastic setting descriptions. One was entitled ‘the abundant jungle’ and the other was entitled ‘the destroyed jungle’. The children used a brilliant range of adjectives and verbs to describe two pictures in the book. They found it interesting to compare the two illustrations and see how we can make positive and negative word choices.
In science, the children have been learning about the life cycle of a bean plant. They were interested to discover that ‘seed dispersal’ is one of the stages. During our trip to Kew Gardens, the children were taught about seed dispersal so it was great to see how that linked to the life cycle of a plant.
Swimming lessons at Latchmere have been a highlight of this half of term. Each week, the children have been making good progress with their front crawl skills.
DT was particularly exciting this week as the children made healthy wraps. They put their skills to good use and chopped, snipped, grated and spread a whole range of ingredients. They enjoyed tasting their wraps afterwards too!
On Wednesday, the children confidently and enthusiastically delivered our class assembly. They did a great job in sharing their learning in front of an audience. Well done Year 2!
