Class update from Friday 10th October 2025:

Last week, Year 2 was treated to a very exciting dress-up day…Fairy Tale Day!  The day began with a reminder of what a fairy tale is and the phrases we associate with them, such as ‘once upon a time’. We played a game of ‘guess the fairy tale’ by reading out clues of different well known stories. Later in the day, we were given wooden spoons to transform into a character. There were a whole range of characters in our classroom by the time everyone was finished! The most exciting part of the day was our visit from the Rainbow Theatre Company. Four fairy tales were acted out, with our help (and Miss MacAuslan’s help!).

In English, we have been continuing with reading Rapunzel. This week, we have focussed on the witch and her spells. Using imperative verbs and alliteration, we came up with brilliant potion poems. Speaking of poetry, we celebrated National Poetry Day on 2nd October! The theme this year was ‘play’. We enjoyed writing word association poems whereby we wrote down a word we think of when we hear the word ‘play’ and repeated this process several times. An example of this would be ‘play, playground, snack, apple’. Maybe you could try writing one at home?
