Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
At the end of the half term, Year 3 enjoyed a lovely day outside to celebrate the conclusion of our Science learning about plants and International World Bee day. It was so exciting to watch pollination in action and identify methods of seed dispersal in the countless plant species at Kew Gardens. Through careful observation and the hands-on experience of investigating living plants, the children were able to witness the events of a plant’s life cycle from seed through to flowering. There were opportunities to examine how seeds are formed and dispersed as well as the importance of bees and other pollinators. What a wonderful culminating activity to consolidate our Science learning last half term!
The science of light is the new topic for this half term. The children have discovered that dark is the absence of light.
To prompt our discussions for writing, the children have been keen observers of treasures buried in the sand as we begin our new focus text called ‘Flotsam’ which follows a curious boy who discovers a mysterious barnacle-encrusted underwater camera at the beach revealing extraordinary secrets. These fascinating finds have captured the children’s imaginations and inspired some creative prediction writing about the text.
