Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
Year 4 have had an enjoyable couple of weeks and are continuing to work hard as we approach the end of the spring term. A particular highlight was last Friday when they visited All Saints Church as part of the ‘Lifting Young Voices’ project that they have been preparing for in their weekly music sessions. It was wonderful to see the children singing so confidently and beautifully.
In science, where Year 4 have been learning about the digestive system, the children planned and conducted an experiment into which liquid causes the most tooth decay: coca-cola, vinegar, milk or orange juice. Placing hard-boiled eggs into each of the drinks, they made predictions about which one they thought would be the most damaging. They have continued to monitor the changes over the week and have been shocked by some of the results so far!
In English, the children read a new book called ‘One Plastic Bag’, the inspiring true story of Isatou Ceesay, an African woman who started a recycling movement to combat the pollution caused by plastic bags in her community. They have been inspired by the story and are writing their own TED talks about the causes and effects of plastic pollution.
