Year 4 had an unforgettable day at their Ancient Egyptian workshop on Monday!
Throughout the day, the children were fully immersed in the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt through drama, role-play and hands-on activities. In the “Mortality and Mummies” session, the children re-enacted the burial rites of a pharaoh, learning all about mummification, grave goods and the importance of rituals in Ancient Egyptian beliefs. They also became pyramid workers for the day during “Precise Pyramids”, where they explored life beside the River Nile, learned about farming and irrigation, and even worked together to build their own pyramids. The children particularly enjoyed discovering the many Egyptian gods and goddesses through dressing up, performances and interactive activities during the final sessions.
In English, Year 4 have been using their workshop knowledge to write informative texts about Egyptian gods and goddesses, focusing on clear organisation and interesting facts.
In science, the children have been using classification keys to identify and group different animals.
Meanwhile, in art, Year 4 created beautiful Frida Kahlo-inspired self-portraits to express their own identity and individuality. It has been a fantastic week full of creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!
