Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
Welcome back to school from what we hope was a lovely Christmas break!
The children came back to school on Monday with a really positive attitude and it was interesting to hear some of the New Year Resolutions that they have made and we decided that our class resolution is to make more of an effort to look after class resources ensuring we respect the classroom and everyone in it!
We have been completing our work on Antarctica by finishing off our non-chronological report about Emperor Penguins with the children planning their own using the work they did at home before Christmas. Next week, they will be writing their own report based on an Antarctica animal of their choice.
In Maths, we completed our Fractions topics by adding and subtracting mixed numbers where the children showed excellent recall in the different aspects they learnt in the Autumn Term, (converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers and finding the common denominator) to help them complete more complex addition and subtraction.
In English and Topics lessons will be learning about the Tudors with a focus on the legacy of the Tudors in our local area. In History, we looked at the Tudor family tree and used dates to order the events that happened chronologically and discuss what we think had the most impact on England in that period of time. We have started reading 'Treason' by Berlie Doherty in our English lessons which is also set in the Tudor time period.
In PE, we have begun our dance topic by looking at using different pathways and how to incorporate that in dance about the Tudors. The children worked in smaller groups to choreograph short dances around Tudor activity such as archery, hunting, feasting and life at court.
