Class update from Friday 5^th December 2025:

As Christmas approaches, the children have been working hard on their contribution to the Christmas Hoops by sewing candy canes using a range of different stitches. The hoops will go up ready for the Christmas Fair on Saturday.

In English, we have finished Shackleton's Journey by writing a description based on storm using figurative language and then reflecting on whether this was 'The Greatest Survival Story of All Time' with many of the children saying it was as no lives were lost during this extraordinary expedition.  We are now moving onto to writing a non-chronological report about Emperor Penguins.

In maths, we are continuing with our fractions topic looking at ordering and comparing fractions with different denominators and then adding and subtracting fractions in different contexts.

In science, we have completed two lessons on the theme of reversible and irreversible change. Firstly, we looked what we mean by reversible and irreversible change - looks at physical and chemical changes. We then completed an investigation looking solids and liquids and whether a solid could be recovered once a solution had been formed either by filtering, allowing the water to evaporate or using a sieve.

In PE, we completed our Gymnastics topic where the children have been completing strandle on and strandle over on different height vaults.
