Blog for Friday 6th June 2025
What an exciting start to Summer 2, we have had an author workshop and a visit to NPL already. We had such a jam packed afternoon at NPL, sessions included a liquid nitrogen demonstration, launching water rockets, balancing blocks and an escape the Greenhouse activity. It was pleasing to see how enthusiastic the children were about all the activities.
It was great to kick start our English lessons off with a workshop from the author of our new book the 'The King Who Banned the Dark'. She shared the importance of working hard on your writing and illustrations and that it takes effort, and revision. We created a plan for our own illustrated story about what inspired the author Emily.
In Science, we have been looking at how shadows are cast. We had an outdoor lesson where we recorded our shadows with chalk at different points throughout the day, identifying the length and width of our shadows changing.
In Maths, we have been looking at direction and angles, when looking at direction the children became robots and directed their partner using the language quarter, half and full turn, either in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.
