Head's Welcome

Welcome to St Luke's C.E. Primary School. I am privileged to be Headteacher of this wonderful, friendly school which provides academic excellence in a nurturing and caring environment, for boys and girls from Nursery to Year 6. I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about our school and the community we serve.

Choosing a school for your child is a difficult decision, especially when the quality of education in Kingston is so high. We want the very best for the children in our care and aim to offer a stimulating and supportive learning environment where children's talents and gifts are nurtured and developed within a strong Christian ethos.

Our school is small enough to ensure that each child is known to all members of staff and is valued as an individual. We know their likes and dislikes, what their strengths are and how we can best support them on their academic journey.

As a Church of England School, we work closely with St Luke's Church to provide an additional dimension to our children's education.  Our approach reflects this commitment to developing each individual child in a culture based on respect, trust, kindness and care for one another.

As a school our 'core business' is obviously children's learning. The teaching of English and mathematics is therefore given a very high priority and standards in those two subjects are consistently high. But we also believe that our role is to provide children with a broad education in which their development in all areas is stimulated and nurtured. We therefore emphasise the creative side of children's development (through art, music and drama for example); their physical development through the PE curriculum; their growth as responsible and caring members of society through the school's ethos; and their social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.

We provide a wide range of activities for children beyond the 'formal' curriculum. In addition to class outings and trips to places of interest we also have a full programme of visitors to the school including theatre groups, musicians and guest speakers. Our children are encouraged to take advantage of our extensive extra-curricular programme.

The Governors play an important role in developing the school and are committed to improving the school's facilities and learning environment.

Our SATs results are consistently high and place us as one of the top performing primary schools in Kingston for attainment at the end of Key Stage 1 and 2.  Our 'value-added' scores demonstrate the excellent progress made by our pupils from their starting point with us.

We always welcome the chance to meet prospective families so should you wish to see us learning please feel free to make an appointment to visit. The best advertisement for our school is the children and their achievements.

I look forward to meeting and welcoming you in the near future.
