Reception 26/27

Below is our most recent blog.  This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).

Class update from Friday 9th October 2026:

Reception had an exciting start to the week with a special visit from the police on Monday morning! We were lucky enough to meet PCSO Carby and Constable Grant, who helped us learn about the important work police officers do to keep people safe.

The children had plenty of questions, including how the police catch the “baddies” and how they help people in our community. We also explored the equipment officers carry on their belts, including a baton, and talked about what their different pieces of kit are used for. There was lots of curiosity and some wonderful questioning!

One of the highlights was dressing up as police officers and trying on real police helmets. The children thoroughly enjoyed imagining themselves helping others and keeping our community safe. A huge thank you to our visitors for such a memorable morning!

In maths, we have been practising counting in ones to 10, focusing on saying each number in the correct order. We are building confidence with the counting sequence and taking care not to miss any numbers out. You can support this at home by counting together during everyday activities, such as counting steps, toys or pieces of fruit. Well done, Reception!
