Year 3 26/27

Below is our most recent blog.  This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).

Class update from Friday 16th October 2026:

Year 3 have enjoyed many opportunities to practice their memorisation, expression and delivery of lines as they have been preparing for their class assembly, their presentation for Father Martin’s retirement and the Harvest Service performance poetry! They have grown in confidence and worked hard to improve their pace and timing.

Reading the story Stone Age Boy has helped the children to make links with their history learning as they write their own adventure story.

Through close observations of rocks in science as well as performing tests to determine hardness and permeability, the children have discovered how to classify rocks as either sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic.

In art, the children honed their sculpture skills while creating a Stone Age style pinch pot out of clay. It was amazing to see the creativity in the different styles and designs. Each pot was decorated with well-planned patterns and unique features using carving tools.

For their next art session, the children created their own cave paintings, inspired by the examples they looked at from prehistoric times. There was great excitement in the classroom as the children climbed under their desks in the dark to have a go at using charcoal to experience cave painting.
