Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
It has been an incredibly busy and productive fortnight for Year 6, filled with hands-on learning, creative writing, and deep philosophical discussions.
Our recent visit to Battersea Park Children's Zoo was a huge success. The children encountered a wonderful variety of animals and took part in an interactive workshop titled ‘Adapt, Survive, and Thrive’, exploring how different species evolve to suit their environments. Back in the classroom, these insights have been channelled directly into their nature documentaries. The children have mastered sophisticated grammatical techniques to bring their scripts to life, including the passive voice, relative clauses, "fact reminders," and "tell: show 3" sentence structures. Having practised these skills using the animals from our trip, they are now conducting independent research on a creature of their own choosing.
In RE, the children engaged in profound discussions while analysing some of the 613 Mitzvot that guide the Jewish faith. They explored how these commandments serve as an active call to action to demonstrate faith, rather than just a set of rules, categorising them into duties to others and duties to God.
Meanwhile, in maths, we have developed formal written methods of multiplication, focusing on recognising when more efficient calculation methods might be used.
