Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
What great weather we have been having, allowing for lots of outdoor play and activities. The children have been practising for their upcoming Sports’ Day which means they will be well prepared for their events! We hope many of you can attend this lovely family morning.
Our caterpillars have now transitioned into cocoons and the children have been very cautious around them as they understand how fragile they are. They are also keen to see them complete the full life cycle to butterflies! In line with our Very Hungry Caterpillar and Jasper’s Beanstalk stories, the children have sown mustard cress seeds, and runner beans. There has been much discussion around the seeds growing on cotton wool versus the soil for the beans. The two texts are great prompts for the children to hone their fine motor skills through many art creations. They have made some beautiful, large beanstalks and colourful caterpillars. Maths learning has been equally as exciting, with threading through leaves, sequencing the food the Caterpillar ate, and matching food type to a number in a pictorial chart. We have focussed on enhancing our outdoor mark making with many more opportunities for the children to enjoy early writing, which they have fully embraced.
