Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
The past two weeks have been full of excitement and creativity in Reception! One of our favourite new additions has been our fantastic marble run. The children have loved designing, building and testing different routes for their marbles, developing their problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork skills. They showed great perseverance by making changes when their designs didn't work the first time, learning that mistakes help us improve.
We finished off our topic book of 'snail and the whale' by making our own playdough snails to put on the whale's back. Check out our photos!
We have also been celebrating the Men's World Cup with a variety of football-themed activities. The children enjoyed colouring the flags of all the World Cup qualifying countries, learning about different nations and discussing how football brings people together from around the world. We explored patterns, colours and countries while practising our fine motor skills through careful colouring.
Finally, we have been showing off our phonics skills in our final assessment before we move into year 1. The children have worked so hard with all their digraphs and trigraphs, including some very pesky 'tricky words'!
Our classroom has been buzzing with collaboration, imagination and curiosity. Whether constructing towering marble runs, sharing ideas with friends or celebrating the excitement of the World Cup, the children have continued to grow in confidence, resilience and independence.
