Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
It was lovely to welcome the children back after the half term last week. Their enthusiasm for learning is as strong as ever!
In English, the children became superheroes this week as a hook for our new story, 'Traction Man is Here'! The children carried out a series of missons such as designing a superhero badge in 15 minutes, moving like a superhero and finding ten monsters who had crept into our classroom. The children have read the first part of the story and drawn six pictures showing the events that have occurred so far. Additionally, the children have noticed that this story is a comic strip so they have been recognising the features of these texts.
Multiplication and division is our current topic in maths. The children have shown a great understanding of making equal groups and they have linked repeated addition to the use of the multiplication symbol.
Last Thursday, Year 2 took a trip to the Rose Theatre where they took part in a Great Fire of London workshop. Through a variety of drama based activities, the children imagined what they would've been able to smell, see and hear in 1666. They sang a rendition of 'London's Burning' in a round and made freeze frames to show the bakery, a market and narrow streets.
This week, the children have been taking part in a range of workshops. From science experiments to bouncing for books, this half of term is proving to be an exciting one!
