Below is our most recent blog. This includes a summary of the last two weeks including any important information for the coming weeks (reminders etc).
Year 6 have been putting the finishing touches to their Mary Poppins performance over the past couple of weeks, and excitement is building as they prepare to showcase all of their hard work.
Recently, pupils attended transition events at both Kingston and Richmond secondary schools, giving them the opportunity to explore their new surroundings, meet staff and fellow students, and build confidence ahead of their first day in September. Those who remained at school enjoyed a fantastic day of collaborative activities, including LEGO building, card games, playing games such as Jenga and Guess Who, and working together to complete a challenging jigsaw of the human body. It was wonderful to see such impressive teamwork, strategic thinking and a real sense of fun throughout the day.
In maths, the children have been developing their reasoning skills by creating questions to match given answers. For example, they were challenged to think of possible questions where the answer was 180 degrees, encouraging them to apply their understanding in creative ways.
In English, Odysseus has finally returned home to the island of Ithaca, inspiring the class to write reports in role as Athena to Zeus, updating him on the events of Odysseus' long-awaited homecoming. The children demonstrated a strong understanding of the characters and used formal, engaging language in their writing.
During art, pupils have continued to develop their creativity and artistic skills by avoiding common mistakes when drawing a self-portrait. They carefully applied techniques and showed great attention to detail in their work when considering proportions and drawing realistic facial features.
