After a well-deserved Easter break, Year 4 have returned to school with enthusiasm and a brilliant buzz for the summer term ahead. They’ve jumped straight into their learning, starting with a new topic in maths - tenths as decimals. The children have been working hard to understand how fractions and decimals connect, using number lines and visual models to support their learning.
In English, there was great excitement as the class were introduced to their new book ‘Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx’. They used clues from the front cover and blurb to make predictions about the story and are looking forward to finding out what Egyptian adventures lie ahead for Marcy.
The children also began their new History topic - Ancient Egyptians. In groups, they placed key events on a timeline to begin understanding this fascinating civilization. Then they used their research skills to add their own important events into their timelines. From pharaohs to pyramids, they are eager to dig deeper into the past.
The sports field came alive this week as Year 4 began practising for the relay races ahead of Sports Day. The teamwork and energy on display were fantastic! What a positive start to the summer term!
