Investing in Every Voice Being Heard

This year, we have been trialling a soundfield system in our Year 2 classroom. A soundfield system allows the teacher’s voice to be projected evenly around the room through speakers, ensuring that every child can hear clearly, no matter where they are sitting.

The impact has been significant. We have seen improvements not only for children with identified hearing needs, but across the whole class. Children are able to follow instructions more easily, transitions are smoother, and there is a greater sense of calm and focus in lessons. Staff have also found that they do not need to raise their voices, which supports their wellbeing across the school day.

As a result of this success, we made the decision before the Easter holidays to invest in a soundfield system for every classroom. The systems arrived this week and have now been installed across the school. This reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where all children can access teaching clearly and confidently. We are grateful to our SENCo, Mr Bates, for his research and support in making this possible.

We are excited about the difference this will make as we continue to develop high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
