All the children in Year 1 were very excited and eager to share their learning in the class assembly this week. They performed the songs brilliantly and delivered their lines perfectly. We are very proud of all they continue to achieve in Year 1.
Science lessons continue to focus on plants and growing; the children have just some planted some cress seeds which they will observe closely. They are hoping that the cress will grow successfully, so they can make cress sandwiches next week, to have at picnic before half term. The children helped make cress sandwiches and enjoyed eating them at a mini picnic in the playground.
The new English book in class is The Man on The Moon which of course has space a space theme for the class to explore in writing lessons. So far, the children have thought of questions they would like to ask the main character, Bob. They wrote their questions independently and, as a challenge, imagined they were Bob and his responses. There were some wonderful inventive ideas including what food does he eat on the Moon and what does he miss from home.
Maths lessons have moved on to recognising half of an object or shape and then finding a half of shapes or objects for themselves. One of their challenges was to cut out 2D shapes and see what shapes could be folded in half and which ones could be folded in more than one way.
