Over the last two weeks, Reception have been incredibly busy and engaged in a variety of exciting learning experiences! We began our new book The Snail and the Whale, which has sparked lots of curiosity and conversation. The children have explored different parts of the world through the story and have written imaginative postcards from the various places the snail and the whale visited — from icy poles to tropical beaches!
A highlight of the fortnight was our class assembly all about minibeasts. The children worked so hard to learn their lines, songs, and movements, and they performed with confidence and enthusiasm in front of an audience. It was wonderful to see them so proud of their efforts and to share their learning with others.
In maths, we’ve introduced some brand-new Numberblock toys, which have been a huge hit! The children have enjoyed using them in imaginative roleplay, creating number stories, solving problems, and exploring number bonds through play. It’s been fantastic to see their mathematical thinking come alive in such a creative way.
Overall, it’s been a joyful and productive couple of weeks in Reception, filled with storytelling, performance, and playful learning. We’re so proud of how enthusiastic and engaged the children have been!
